The Double Life of Zhane Rain

The Double Life of Zhane Rain

One deaf girl survived it all. In order to hear her story, help us make the movie.

My name is Ann Marie Bryan. Everyone calls me Jade. I'm a screenwriter/filmmaker and owner of Jade Films and Entertainment located in New York City. We have very excited news to share! We’re in process of making a groundbreaking history and would very much like for you to be a part of it! The project is a feature film entitled, “The Double Life of Zhane Rain”, which is about a high school girl who unravels family secrets behind the traumatic brain injury that caused her hearing loss. What's captivating about this story is that it centers on a Black Deaf Family and it has never been told anywhere before in the mainstream film industry.
This thought-provoking psychodrama explores family relationships, teen issues and coping with adversity. Its messages resonate with a much broader audience, and families of any make-up can relate to issues they face in their lives. It also promotes social consciousness and raises awareness of deaf culture within an African-American Culture and society's tolerance of difference.(Please click on the link to view a video sample of our recent staged reading of the screenplay.)
We're raising a portion of $110,000 from Indiegogo to produce a high-end movie trailer and a high production value independent feature film! We encourage our backers to continue supporting us until we reach our budget goal in time for the film to enter into production stage in February 2013. Every pledge lifts the quality of the movie and we gratefully appreciate your support! Note: All donations to The Double Life of Zhane Rain are tax-deductible.

Please spread the word to your friends, family and colleagues.

A brain injury can happen to anyone, anywhere, anytime. Whether due to an auto accident, sports injury, stroke, tumor, a fall, or one of countless other causes, chances are, you, or someone you know, has been affected by a brain injury.

During the chaotic and confusing days, weeks, or months in the ER, hospital, or inpatient rehabilitation, it is extremely difficult to comprehend what life with a brain injury will be like. Yet, once the medical professionals have finished their lifesaving work, survivors and their families are usually left to cope on their own with the life-changing and, often, lifelong emotional, behavioral, and social effects of the injury.

We're shooting the film on a RED SCARLET camera. It will be a feature length film running approximately 120 minutes. We have several goals attached to this project. Most important, we want to give the industry something that it has never seen before.

WHO'S INVOLVED?

A passion project from the very beginning, our team consists of diverse and talented storytellers, who all strongly believe in the story. We are working toward getting A-list stars attached who are deaf and hearing to the project.

YOUR INVESTMENT

Passionate people make all the difference with something like this and every single person's contribution will make a difference. One of the main reasons we decided to use Kickstarter was because we loved the idea that our campaign, like our film project, will be a collaborative effort by people who truly care about this film. Your help and support will be invaluable to us on this journey.

WHAT ARE THE PLANS FOR THE FILM

Once we wrap up postproduction, a couple of things will happen. First, we'll be submitting to both domestic and international film festivals for early 2014 screenings. Then, we will tour with the film and host private screenings to people within the Deaf and Sign Language community. This will help us build an audience.

WHAT HAPPENS IF WE DON’T REACH OUT GOAL

If we don't raise our goal, we will still honor it. However, we need at least 50% of the funds collected to produce all or most of your rewards. Every dollar helps! When we meet our goal we will begin filming and finish the editing so that we can send you the DVD's and merchandise as soon as possible.

WE ALSO OFFERS BRANDING VISIBILITY IN OUR FILM

We will work with you to find a way to feature your product, brand or business in our movie and make sure you receive the best visibility at all our screening events, prints/Ads, movie website and more. You get invited to make an appearance and speak to our audiences. (In addition, IMDB Executive Producer credits.) Email us at jadefilms@gmail.com and we will discuss it.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

This film is only going to be possible with the help of YOU (The people in the Deaf and Sign Language Community, our film lover fans, independent film fans, and anyone who loves a positive, inspiring story).  We want this to be your film just as much as it is ours. The more people who participate the more chance we have of getting the story out. To help out, please Twitter it, "Like" us on Facebook, Pin it on Pinterest, email this Indiegogo link and let your friends, supporter groups, and co-workers know about the film and this campaign. We would love for people to get involved on a local level. Email jadefilms@gmail.com to get more information and become involved.
